Johnny Slaughter

Hey everyone my name is Johnny Slaughter and I was born in San Diego Ca in 1970. Then relocated to Grass Valley. I’ve been married and divorced, but have three amazing boys from it, who I love very much.
Ever since the age of 6 or 7, I have had a love for art and always found myself going back to it.
I always thought about pursuing tattooing as a career. So when I found a shop where I had some ink done said I could do a apprenticeship, I jumped at it. After that I wanted to expand my horizons so, I looked around at how other shops worked an I decided I liked whe way Wild Bill's was set up. Bill was gracious enough to hire me on at his shop.

I found myself drawing a lot of floral art, mostly cherry blossoms and roses in the beginning. Recently I’ve slowly started going for Sailor Jerrystyle tattoos, because I think there is a lot too learn from old school artists and their techniques. I personally enjoy Sailor Jerry’s style because it encompasses the original tattoo’s that were given in America once it began becoming more accepted in the public eye, and you weren’t in the armed forces or prison. One of my favorite artists is Corey Miller and Brian Everett is great has well. I get too watch him tattoo here at Wild Bill’s when he comes in for a guest spot. He is indeed a very cool person with a lot of skill to learn from. Tony Ciavarros also helped me get back into drawing early on because his art helped me better understand an tattoo artists point of view rather than a regular artist.

There is one thing that I have noticed from this whole experience and that is that I do love tattooing! There is no better way too meet new people, and with new faces coming in daily it’s a guarantee I will!

Some of the things I like doing when I'm not tattooing is camping, the occasional movie, and of course family time is always a good thing.

I am looking forward to meeting you soon, so come on out too Wild Bill’s Tattoo!!
